The club is currently in its' 11th year of operation, after having been purchased from the Waterville Company when it was formerly named the Waterville Valley Sports Center. We've made many improvements to our facilities over the years, and will continue to do so as we adapt to the changing needs of our members and the growing popularity of Waterville Valley both in vacationers and homeowners. Meet the Manager - Rene J. Schwartz, General Manager Business Background:
Upon graduating from Plymouth State College in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, Rene worked at the new Waterville Valley Sports Center before moving on in 1989 as a computer hardware and software sales consultant for PC Connection, Inc. In this capacity, Rene quickly became one of the top sales people at PC Connection, helping them become one of the world's leading mail-order suppliers of computer software, hardware and IT related products. In 1993 he moved on to PC Connection's television studio-PCTV, Inc. Here he demonstrated his keenness of software and hardware products as the host talent and co-producer of MacTV, a daily, national, cable television show featuring in-depth product analysis and reporting on the Apple Macintosh computing industry. In 1994, in addition to his on-camera duties, Rene became PCTV's Sales and Traffic Manager responsible in part for advertising revenue in the million-dollar range and ad (spot) production and placement. In September of 1995, Rene returned to Waterville Valley as General Manager of White Mountain Athletic Club, Inc., (WMAC, Inc.'). Rene oversees all aspects of the company including personnel, human resources, budgets, mechanical & maintenance and future growth and expansion plans of WMAC, Inc. Rene also serves on the Board of Directors of WMAC, Inc. as Secretary to the corporation. Personal Profile: Born February 11, 1963, in New Bedford, MA. ; Resident of New Hampshire since 1976; High school graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, NH in 1981; Graduate - Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH 1985 Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Rene has worked and resided in Waterville Valley from 1983-1989 and 1995 to the present. He has been a property owner for 9 years. He served as President of the Mad River Condominium Association and is President ex-officio and past Treasurer of the Waterville Valley Resort Association, ("WVRA"). The purposes of the WVRA are to promote the growth and prosperity of Waterville Valley and WVRA's member businesses, and to expand and enhance the recreational, athletic, civic and cultural interests of Waterville Valley for the benefit of Waterville Valley businesses, property owners, residents and visitors. In addition, Rene serves on the Waterville Valley School Board, is the present chairman, and served as a member of the Waterville Valley Electric Advisory Committee. He also holds a seat on the WV Ice Arena Committee, participating in short and long-range planning for the municipally owned WV Ice Arena. Rene, his wife Jacki and their three children are involved in numerous community affairs including the WV Elementary School PTA, Special Olympics of NH, NorthStar Realty Group and marketing WV through the WVRA.
